The Cirrus-ECM motor controller can be used to control one or two EC (Electronically Commutated) motors compatible with open collector PWM or 0-12VDC PWM control inputs and PWM frequencies between 75Hz – 25kHz. Control Resources specializes in custom product design, contact us if your motor falls outside of this control envelope.
- Programmable Controller for your ECM Motor
- Control Signal Options: 0-10VDC, 0-20mA, Transducer, Thermistor
- EC Motor Control for Under $11 per Motor in Volume
- Factory Customization for Orders as Low as 50 Pieces
Multiple Control Input Options
The Cirrus-ECM can be connected to various control signal inputs including voltage control (programable up to 10VDC), current control (programable up to 20mA), and temperature control (programable between -20°C and 80°C).
12 Programmable Variables used to Optimize Your Control Curve
To customize the Cirrus-ECM motor controller for your application, 7 variables in the control curve below are fully programable.

Other programmable variables include Control input signal type (voltage, current or temperature), number of motors being monitored (1 or 2), the PWM Frequency of the motor, motor speed alarm trip point in PPR (pulses per revolution), and adjustable auxiliary output voltage up to 18VDC to power an accessory like a transducer or alarm.
Optional Alarm and Fail-Safe Features
The Cirrus-ECM motor controller can be setup to deliver an alarm signal to trigger a relay or power an LED if the motor speed drops below a programmable setpoint or if the control input (temperature, voltage or current) is above a programmable setpoint or is lost. The Cirrus-ECM can also be configured to ignore any combination of these alarm conditions. The Cirrus-ECM can also be used to power an alarm circuit up to 18VDC or a remote transducer.
Programming the Cirrus-ECM with the Navigator PRG00-F
There are 2 ways to program a Cirrus-ECM motor controller. If purchasing a small quantity of controllers, you will need to rent or buy one SmartFan Navigator PRG00-F, a menu-driven remote programmer designed to program most Control Resources catalog products including the Cirrus-ECM. It can also be used to save or copy programs from one unit to another.
By using a remote programmer, the cost of a display, keypad and microprocessor is removed from the controller, keeping controller prices down. This also has the advantage of preventing tampering.
Factory Programming and other Customization
After using the Navigator PRG00-F remote programmer to finalize your control curve, you can purchase your Cirrus-ECM preprogrammed from the factory for orders as low as 50 units. There is no additional cost for factory programming for orders as low as 200 units.
Control Resources specializes in designing and customizing power electronics. If the Cirrus-ECM is not flexible enough for your needs, contact us to discuss your application.
