SmartFan Nimbus AC Motor Speed ControlOperation/Installation Manual

SmartFan Nimbus AC motor speed control is designed to control AC motors, pumps and fans in HVAC, electronics and industrial control applications. Nimbus provides AC motor speed control for single phase AC motors approved for voltage control in applications including; humidity control, clean room pressurization, equipment cooling, exhaust ventilators, duct fans & blowers. Nimbus accepts 115 or 230 VAC power source and provides AC motor speed control from a control signal (0-20 mA, 0-10 VDC), remote transducer or up to three remote temperature sensors.
Automatic voltage and frequency detection, current ratings up to 7.5 Amps and three mounting and connection configurations make this AC motor speed control extremely flexible and economical.
Benefits of using SmartFan Nimbus for AC motor speed control include acoustical noise reduction, environmental (humidity, temperature or pressure) regulation, greater product reliability, improved safety and energy savings.
CAUTION: SmartFan AC motor speed control products are designed for OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and are not intended for end-user or after-market applications. SmartFan AC motor speed control products should only be used with compatible induction motor (Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) or Shaded Pole) that are approved by the motor manufacturer and thoroughly validated for voltage control prior to use. Attempting to control a fan or motor that is not compatible could cause excessive heating and/or permanent damage to the motor.

  • Power source: 95 – 250 VAC, automatically detected.
  • Frequency: 47-64 Hz, automatically detected.
  • AC Motor Type Compatibility:voltage controllable PSC (Permanent Split Capacitor) or Shaded Pole, motor type automatically detected
  • Full voltage start pulse
  • Does not require a separate low voltage power source
  • Temperature alarm output when control is based on remote temperature sensor(s)
  • UL recognized to UL508, CSA-C22.2, File E100344
